2009: Strengthening Connections

This project used art therapy to support the reintegration of children into their families and communities, while encouraging greater self-confidence, agency, and participation. The program worked with children from orphanages and vulnerable families attending community schools in three regions of Kyrgyzstan, including Chui, Jalalabad, and Osh.

Through weekly master classes and creative workshops, professional art educators guided participants in painting, sculpture, video, photography, and performance. These interdisciplinary approaches helped children recognize their creative potential, strengthen their self-esteem, and better understand their rights and equality as active members of civil society. The project ultimately empowered participants to see themselves as capable contributors within their communities and the broader cultural landscape.
