2008: Cultural Competence and Civility Arts Community Outreach
This nationwide, multi-media arts dialogue initiative was designed to raise public awareness about ongoing challenges in cross-ethnic relations in Kyrgyzstan while encouraging positive shifts in attitudes, behaviors, and social practices within communities. Through innovative, participatory art forms, including visual art, video, performance, and community installations, the project created open spaces for dialogue across multiple regions of the country.
By engaging diverse communities in interactive conversations, the initiative addressed both visible and often unspoken forms of social division, highlighting the importance of cross-cultural competence, mutual respect, and civic responsibility. The project emphasized the role of art as a catalyst for reflection, understanding, and social cohesion, contributing to the broader civil and cultural development of Kyrgyzstan.
